Biggest sport expo in Indonesia
As a biggest sport expo in Indonesia around 10.000 people was participated in the inaugural race at 2013 than increased to around 14.000 in 2014 and around 15.000 in the 2015. Among foreign participants, there were the most Japanese runners in the first marathon of 2013 and Africa for the next year. The IAAF recognised the route of Jakarta Marathon as “Grade A”. There are events such as the full marathon of 42 km, the half marathon of 21 km, 10 km, 5 km, and 1km for child races. The Jakarta Marathon 2016 is aimed to project Jakarta as world class tourist destination, especially in sport tourism, and is regarded as the “biggest running event of Indonesia”. Perhaps the winners will participate to the Asian Games in two years later, 2018.

The Full and Half Marathon route passes through various popular landmarks of the Jakarta City: including National Monument (MONAS), the Istiqlal Mosque, the Cathedral across, the Old Batavia, the Fatahillah Square, and other. Jakarta Marathon is sponsored by Tourism and Creative Economy Ministry of Indonesia along with Jakarta administration and for 2015, 2016 Mandiri bank is the largest bank of Indonesia become a title sponsor for this event.
Recognized by AIMS
This event is recognized by AIMS or Association of International Marathons and Distance Races and IAAF or International Athletic Association Federation. Jakarta Marathon is organised by tourism ministry of Government of Indonesia. Before at 2015, the race was held on 25 October, and more than 15,000 people from 53 countries participated in the marathon.
